Republic of South Africa

South Africa is well suited for the first-time African trip or the seasoned species hunter. Where South Africa can be considered a destination for dangerous game (Elephant, Buffalo, Lion, Leopard & Rhino) it is far better suited and very affordable for a plainsgame species safari. Ranging in the south near the Cape all the way to the Northern Transvaal, you will find a wide range of geographic topography. Most of South African hunting is on large high-fenced areas, but many areas boast free-range hunting opportunities.

Namibia

Namibia is fast becoming a very popular hunting destination. Being a semi-arid country, many hunters concur that Namibia is similar to hunting in West Texas in both climate and terrain. Namibia has limited dangerous game hunting, but boasts an abundance of good free-range plainsgame hunting areas. Furthermore, like its neighbor of South Africa, is a very affordable destination.

Zimbabwe

Zimbabwe, as most international hunters’ realize, has been very controversial these last ten years, but can be a great hunting destination if you book your hunt with a knowledgeable group like The Global Hunting Network. For dangerous game, it is still the best value on the continent and has a wide assortment of plainsgame. With all of the political turmoil that Zimbabwe has endured, we can keep hunters up to date with current issues.

Botswana

While being a very safe and stable country on African standards, Botswana is a very serious African big game hunter’s destination. It is probably best known for its large Elephants, but has superb quality trophy Cape Buffalo and Leopard. Lion have been off again and on again for huntable quota, but are a very fine quality. With three distinct areas to hunt, the Kalahari, Okavango Delta and the Chobe region, you can find a wide arrangement of plainsgame. This is a very upscale country to hunt but if it’s in your budget, you will be well-pleased with the outcome.

Mozambique

Mozambique has the potential to be the great come-back-kid. At one time it was a very good hunting country, but during the late 60’s and 70’s was set back by the communists. In recent years it has been set in a direction that looks very positive. You still need to be extremely selective in determining who will be your hunting company and the specific concessions/blocks you intend to hunt. Just like the books of old Africa, when hunting in Mozambique you will feel like you’re hunting in the past.

Tanzania

Where Tanzania has changed in many ways, you can still experience that traditional African safari with tented camps and old-style hunting. Over the last couple of years Tanzania has become very expensive, but if you have the budget, it is still one of the greatest countries in Africa to hunt. The diversity of wildlife and native tribes will surely touch your heart and soul.

Central African Republic C.A.R.

Though few sportsmen fully realize it, Central Africa supports an astonishing abundance and variety of wild game with exceptional trophy quality. In the last few years it has had a few political problems which is why we keep Cameroon in our back pocket; based on current affairs, we will then determine which country is the safest place to acquire your Central African species –be it Cameroon or C.A.R.

Ethiopia

This country is a very special destination on the continent of Africa. It is breathtakingly beautiful and has a list of unique quality trophy animals. It is thought by some biblical historians to be the location of the Garden of Eden. The three primary hunting areas are the Omo Valley, Danakil and the Arusi Mountain in the south central highlands where clients must venture for the Mountain Nyala. Ethiopia has more cultural impact on visiting hunters than any other place in the world.

Zambia

Zambia is one of those countries in Africa that has had a choppy-at-times relationship between the wildlife department and the outfitters. The concessions, or concession areas, that are run by outfitters with good sound credentials with the wildlife department, can offer the finest hunting you can find in Africa. Some of the animals you must go to Zambia to harvest include: Kafue Flats Lechwe, Black Lechwe and Cookson’s Wildebeest. This is another country that you can have a fantastic experience in, but please be certain to utilize the talents and knowledge of The Global Hunting Network when planning a hunt in Zambia.
